Who and Where We Are

About Us

Along the Banks of the Salawin offers guided small group or individual tours between 1 - 3 days through the Salawin National Park. You will experience trekking through the jungle, long tail boat trips, elephant riding, waterfalls and overnight stays in Karen hilltribe villages. The Salawin National Park is slightly off the usual backpacker route so you will be unlikely to see other tourists, allowing you to really experience and learn about the true Karen hilltribe way of life.

Most of our tours from Mae Sariang start in Mae Sam Lap, a fascinating border town Along the Banks of the Salawin. We take the boat along the Salawin River and start our trek into the mountains from here. You will be able to ride elephants, visit waterfalls, learn from hill tribe villagers and absorb the spectacular scenery.

Tours leave from Mae Sariang town which is situated south of Mae Hong Song province, 4-5 hours from Chiang Mai. We offer a special 1 day ‘Scenic tour from Chiang Mai to Mae Sariang' where we can pick you up from your Guesthouse in Chiang Mai and travel together through the mountains visiting waterfalls and Obluang National Park in your own personalised vehicle with fluent driver/guide.

About Mae Sariang

Mae Sariang is a relatively small sleepy town in the southern part of Mae Hong Son or southwest of Chiang Mai. It is a place filled with attractive natural surroundings and exquisite culture, which is hardly found in other areas. Approximately 90% of the district is very mountainous and forested. As it is a border district next to Burma, there are many links associated to Burma in terms of architecture, hill tribe villagers, a small population of Burmese Muslims and refugees living within the town and associated NGO's / foreign volunteers that come here to support the refugees.

There are a few guest houses to choose from as well as some coffee shops and nice restaurants many overlooking the Yuam river for you to kick back and relax after your trek.
